Lean management, del 1 Flashcards

1
Q

What does lean thinking focus on?

A

Elimination of waste in all forms and smooth efficient flow of materials and information through the value chain. The wanted result is to obtain faster customer response, higher quality and lower costs.

Q

4 principer för lean operating system

A

Elimination of waste –> activites that do not add value and support to the processes are eliminated

Increased speed and response –> transfer of all physical materials and information in a value chain is coordinated to achieve a high level of efficiency

Improved quality –> methods of quality management are used to eliminate sources of defects and errors in processes of value chain

Reduced cost –> results from reducing waste and improving quality

Q

Describe 5Ss

A

To help maintain clean and well organized workplaces
Sort – Each item is in the proper place
Set in order – Arrange materials so that they are easy to fins and use
Shine – clean work area
Standardize – Formallize procedures and practices
Sustain – Keep the process going through training, communication, and organizational

Q

Describe visual controls

A

Indicators for operating activities that are placed in plain sight of all employees

  • Helps employees understand the status and performance of the work system quickly and easily  antal kunder i kön
  • Visual signaling systems are known as andon  för att signalera problem i realtid, tex i tillverkningsmiljöer

Q

Describe Single minute exchange of dies (SMED)

A

Quick steup or changeover of tooling and fixtures in processes

  • Helps smaller batches run on the same equipment
  • Enables a manufacturer to have frequent changeovers and move toward single-piece flow concept of manufacturing
  • Frees up capacity for other productive uses

Q

Describe Batching and single-piece flow

A

Batching –> process of producing large quantities of items as a group before transferring them to the next operation

Single-piece flow  concept of ideally using batch sizes of one, requires the ability to change between products quickly and inexpensively

Q

Describe Quality and continuous improvement

A

Inspection, analysis and controlling of work to guarantee that goods or services conform to specifications (överensstämmer med specifikationer) when passed on to the next stage, it eliminates the opportunities for waste!!

Q

Describe Total productive maintenance (TPM)

A

Focused on ensuring that operating systems will perform their intended function reliably

3 goals:
Maximize equipment effectiveness and eliminate unplanned downtime
Create worker ownership of equipment
Improve equipment operation through employee involvement activities
