Lean Management Flashcards
Define pull
The reate of production is determined by customer demand
Effeciency of Pull
- Eliminate excess stock that cannot be sold
2.Reducing costs of inventory, only when needed by custowmer
Effectiveness of Pull
Ensuring goods do not spoil or become defective because they were produced too long before they were needed
What is takt
Creating a schedule where each unit is manufactured in the same amount of time that new a finished output is needed to be sold to a customer
Takt efficiency
Allowin the business to create a consistent workflow, rather than having periods when extra staff are needed and period where too many staff are not needed
Takt effectiveness
Ensure the finished outputs are ready when needed so sales can be maximised
What is one piece flow
Goods move through the production line at a time in a continuos flow, with each step that adds value occuring immediately after the previous step is completed
Effectiveness of one piece flow
Avoiding a pile-up of in-procee goods which is more likely to create defects and breakages
Efficiency of one piece flow
Eliminating stop, starts, bottlenecks and waiting time. Eemployees and machinery are never idel waiting for the next task
Define zero defects
The b usiness strives for perfection and that no defects are passed form one stage to the next. Achieved by identifyinh the exact step in production process where errors occur and fixing it immediately.
Efficiency of zero defect
Avoiding the need to undo steps, fix earlier problems and defects before product is sold
Effectiveness of zero defects
Ensuring finished outputs meet customer expectations and do no require warranty claims
Lean Management
an approach that improves the efficiency and effectiveness of operations eliminating waste and improving quality
