Leaf Adaptions Flashcards
1
Q
Adaptions
A
- flat (larger surface area)
- thin (easy gas diffusion)
- green pigmented chlorophyll (absorb light to turn into chemical energy)
- Veins (provide support and transport water and nutrients to leaf and dissolved foods away)
2
Q
Inside of leaf
A
- Epidermal cells (1 cell thick and transparent, easy for light to go through)
- Vascular Bundles - Water + nutrients (xylem) and dissolved food (phloem) transport
- Stomata - (gas exchange). Water vapor and oxygen out, CO2 in.
- Mesophyll - (spongy) gas exchange, (palisade) contain many chloroplasts
