Discuss how you delegate and/or provide examples of delegation and management
5pm. Cyanotic, obtunded patient.
Needed assistance. Hypoglycaemic and opioid toxic
Emergency call bell. Crash trolley, not crash call. ABCDE.
Asked nurses for Obs and BG
Asked nurse in charge BG, presenting complaint.
Asked sister to inform team looking after the patient (surgical on call)
BG low, Pupils pinpoint. Recently started opioids.
Glucagon, glucose, naloxone (other staff nurses to draw up)
Patient GCS now 14 – very confused and aggressive.
Parent team arrived, handed over, helped stablise patient.
