A leadership perspective that sought to identify the inherited traits leaders possessed that people distinguished them from non-leaders

Operational Role
- Vertical leadership role
- Direct control over people and resources
- Uses position power to accomplish results
Collaborative role
- Horizontal leadership role
- Works behind the scenes and uses personal power to influence others and get things done
Advisory Role
- Provides guidance and support
- Responsible for developing broad organizational capabilities rather than specific business results
What are the two behavior approaches? Describe each
Autocratic
- Centralize authority
- Power comes from position
- Effective when skill difference between leader and subordinates is high
Democratic
- Delegates authority
- Effective is subordinates possess decision-making skills
What are the 2 categories of leadership? Describe each
Consideration
-The extent to which a leader is sensitive to subordinates, respects their ideas and feelings and establishes a mutual trust
Initiating Structure
-The extent to which a leader is task oriented and directs subordinates work activities toward goal achievement

A two dimensional leadership model that describes major leadership styles.
Parameters are Concern for people and concern for results
What is individualized leadership
When a leader develops a unique relationship with each subordinate or group member

What is a Dyad?
Something that consists of two parts
What is a Vertical Dyad Linkage Model (VDL)?
A model of the importance of the dyad formed by a leader with each member of the group
Creates two groups:
In group- Those that are close to the leader and trust him
Out group- Those that are less close and trust the leader less
What is a Leader-Member Exchange (LMX)?
How leader-member relationships develop over time and how the quality of the exchanges affects outcomes
What are the 4 main characteristics of Entrepreneurship?
Vision and dissatisfaction with the present
Ability to get people on board
Flexibility, openness to feedback and ability to learn
Persistance
