LCST Flashcards
Why LCST?
- Tool to tackle the challenge of the interpretation & communication of LCSA results.
- -> depends on goal of the study & target audience
- Compare two alternatives A & B
- -> It transparently displays the “superior alternative” based on individual stakeholder ́s preferences
What is LCST?
graphic that can be used to apply the weighting of any of the three parameters
How is the sustainability value calculated for the LCST?
- normalize the three values because impact categories have different units (divide impact score by normalization factor:
one person’s average share of all emission/ resource use in the world during one year (pE)) - multiply the values by a weighting factor (depends on target audience and the person undertaking the assessment)
- sum up the values of the three dimensions
What is a challenge in LCST?
e.g. missing /unsufficient data for calculating the references/ normalization factors
what can you do very well with LCST?
Compare two alternatives A & B
It transparently displays the “superior alternative” based on individual stakeholder ́s preferences
How can you compare two alternatives A & ?B
Determine the equilibrium line where the sustainability value (SV) is equal for both alternatives
SV (A) = SV (B)
depending on the weighting sets: all points below or above the equilibrium line describe where the A or B ist superior to B or A
