Extrusive rocks are formed on the surface of the Earth from lava, which is magma that has emerged from underground.(Lava that cools quickly)

they form from molten lava that spreads in sheets and hardens or from fragments of magma ejected from vents by violent gaseous explosions.

Metamorphic rocks are formed when other rocks are affected by great temperatures of heat and pressure.
