What is a contract?
An agreement
When you make a purchase what do you also make with the salesman?
A contract
What does the Sale of Goods Act 1979 state?
That anything you buy should be-
- of satisfactory quality
- fit for the purpose
- as described
If something goes wrong what are you entitled to?
- a full refund
- a reasonable amount of damages or compensation
- a repair or replacement
You have no grounds of complaint if you?
- were told about the fault before purchasing
- examined the product and should’ve seen the fault
- made a mistake when buying
- simply changed your mind
Why shouldn’t a shop have a “No Refunds” sign?
It’s against the law
When complaining you should-
- contact the company ASAP
- ask to speak to the manager
- explain clearly what the problem is
- keep all letters/receipts
- be assertive not aggressive
- IF you haven’t gotten anywhere put your complaint in writing
When complaining you shouldn’t-
- leave it too long before complaining
- bee fooled be excuses like “it’s the manufacturers problem” or “you’re past our 28 day limit for complaints”
