What is a flight plan
Specified info provided to ATSU relative to an intended flight or portion of a flight or an a/c
What are the 2 types of FPL?
IFR and VFR
When must you file a FPL?
Any flight or portion of flight to be provided with ATC service
IFR in Advisory
Flight going into area or routes providing FIS alerting or SAR
Routes near other states airspace which if you get to close that may cause them to come intercept you
International boarders
Operating at night and leaving vicinity of AD
Categories of FPL
Full
Repetitive (RPL)
Abbreviated - filed phone or radio
What is a repetitive FPL?
When does it have to be filed?
When can revisions be made?
Regular flights - only one plan filed - details brought forward
Cannot mix RPL/FPL
14 days before 1st flight for new submissions
7 working days before 1st flight for revisions
Suspension not accepted for less than 3 days
Canx individual FPL if less than 3 days
What is an abbreviated FPL
Limited info for portion of flight where clearance is required (e.g crossing airway, control zone)
Filed radio or phone to T/O
Flight plan submission times
60 min before start or taxi
3hrs before EOBT if North Atlantic or AFTM measures
10 min for airborne abbreviated FPL
When is a Dep message required
VFR FPL
IFR operating outside CAS
IFR outside IFPS
What does IFPS stand for?
Integrated flight plan processing system
What do IFPS do?
Sole source of distribution of IFR FPL within Europe.
Not Mil or VFR
If a flight not commencing writhing 24hrs what does it need?
EOBD
How far I advance can you file a FPL
120hrs In advance
