What is a danger area?
Area where activities dangerous to flight of a/c may exist at specified times.
They may overlap.
Usually military (gun ranges etc)
What is a prohibited area?
Area Above land or territorial waters of a state within which the flight of a/c is prohibited
What is a restricted area?
Area over land or territorial waters of a state within which the flight of a/c is restricted in accordance with specific conditions.
Occasionally overlap
Usually permanently established
Can have one within another
What are small arms ranges
Up to 500ft AGL
Not a danger area
What is an Aerial Tactics Area?
ATA
Air combat training-high energy manoeuvres
Pilots of non-participating a/c who are unable to avoid ATAs are strongly advised to use radar service and maintain a good look out
What are military training areas
Area of upper airspace of defined dimensions
Intense military training flights
Not possible to provide civil ATC during published hours of activity
What is HIRTA
High intensity radio transmission area
Radio energy of an intensity which may cause interference with and on rare occasions damage to communications and Nav equipment
What is AIAA?
Area of intense air activity.
A/c singularly or in combination with others regularly participate in unusual manoeuvres
