FH: Dogs/Foxes
IH: Arthropods (mites & insects)/Lower vertebrates
(frogs, lizards, birds)
Cysticercoid & Tetrathyridium
Main features of
Cyclophyllidae
(Mesocestoides, Taenia, Echinococcus spp.)
- Live a adults in carnivorous mammals or humans
- Usually do not cause harmful effects in the final host
- Usually no symptoms occurs in the intermediate hosts
- They live for years in the intermediate hosts but the lifespan is shorter in the final host
