movement of head toward one side if cheek or mouth is stroked - nipple seeking.
sucking reflex
primitive reflex.
sucking response when roof of mouth is touched.
palmar reflex
primitive reflex.
curling of fingers if palm of hand is stroked
babinski reflex
primitive reflex.
dorsiflexion of big toe and fanning of other toes with plantar stimulation.
aka plantar reflex.
galant reflex
primitive reflex.
stroking along one side of spine while newborn is in ventral suspension (face down) causes lateral flexion of lower body toward stimulated side.
general feature of primitive reflexes
normally disappear within 1st year of life.
may reemerge with FRONTAL lobe lesion.
