Landing Performance Notes Flashcards
What two components do actual landing distance involved?
- Air component
- Ground component
What operational factors affect landing distance?
- Weight
- Wind
- Density altitude
- Runway slope and condition
Are there generally safety factors applied to PC-21 performance data?
- No
- This is applied in the SIs
How does a 10% increase in gross weight at landing change the landing speed and distance?
5% increase in landing speed
10% increase in landing distance
What are the two types of hydroplaning?
1) Dynamic hydroplaning - when a wedge of water infront of the wheel lifts it off the runway
2) Viscous hydroplaning - oil of accumulated rubber combines with water on a runway
What is the hydroplaning speeds for rotating and non-rotating tyres?
1) 7.7 times the square root of the tyre pressure = hydroplaning speed for a non-rotating tyre
2) 9 times the square root tyre pressure for a rotating tyre
