Landing Gear (Electric) and Brakes Flashcards
What is the landing gear actuated by?
28 Volt DC motor powered by the right generator bus
What does the motor operate to transmit power to a mechanical actuator at each gear?
Torque tubes and a chain drive
What is provided to prevent damage to the gear motor in the case of mechanical malfunction?
Circuit breaker or current limiter and a spring loaded friction clutch
Where is the shimmy damper located?
The nose gear assembly
How is the gear designed to assist in absorbing shock during the landing?
At touchdown, the lower portion of each strut is forced into the upper cylinder which will move fluid through an orifice which compresses the air charge to absorb the landing shock
What is provided on the shock struts to keep the wheels aligned with the longitudinal axis of the airplane?
The torque knees
After full extension or retraction, what is used to break the motors circuit?
Up or down limit switches
What holds the gear in the retracted position?
Friction in the Jackscrew assembly
What locks the nose gear down?
Over-center condition of the drag brace
What is the main gear locked down by?
Notched hook and plate attachment on the drag braces
Emergency gear extension
Reduce speed to 130, landing gear control switch handle to DN position, pull the LANDING GEAR RELAY circuit breaker
Pull up on emergency engage handle in the floor, turn clockwise to the stop. (This will disconnect all electrical power to gear motor)
Pump extension handle until the 3 green position lights come on or until resistance is felt
Gear speed limitations
VLo- do not extend above 181 KIAS
* do not retract above 163 KIAS
VLe - do not exceed 181 KIAS with gear extended
Where does the pressure come from for the brakes to function?
The master cylinders
How many master cylinders are there for braking?
2
