Landing Gear & Brakes Flashcards
What hydraulic system powers the landing gear and nosewheel steering?
System 3
What hydraulic systems power the wheel brakes?
System 2 for the Outboard brakes and System 3 for the inboard brakes
How is the main landing gear held in the up position?
Mechanical Uplocks
How is the nose landing gear held in the up position?
An over center uplock
What is the function of the nose gear lock actuator assembly?
It’s a dual acting lock and is used to unlock the over center lock for both the up and down positions
How is the nose gear tire stopped after retraction?
Nose gear brake pads in the wheel well
What is the function of the downlock release button on the landing gear panel
It withdraws the solenoid lock permitting an UP selection of the landing gear lever
How is the gear released when the Manual Landing Gear Release Handle is pulled?
The 2 MLG uplocks are mechanically released and NLG over center lock is hydraulically released
When is nose wheel steering operational?
Hydraulic system 3 pressurized
NLG down and locked
WOW is present
What is the maximum turning deflection of the NLG with the rudders
8°
What is the maximum turning deflection of the NLG with the tiller?
80°
Under what circumstances can the NLG be moveable a full 360°?
If the aircraft is being towed with the steering torque arms disconnected
What is a tire chine?
To deflect ground water and other contaminants outward to prevent ingestion into the engines
How is main wheel rotation stopped during gear retraction?
Hydraulic pressure from the nose gear up line is directed to the brake control valves
How many brake applications are available in case of failure of hydraulic systems 2 and 3?
6
