Landing gear and brakes Flashcards
When would the landing gear warning button be used?
in the event of a dual radio altimeter failure? ( inhibits aural warning)
What does the Emergency/ Parking brake light illuminated mean?
The parking brake is actuated AND there is hydraulic pressure in the brake lines.
What condition must exist to get a green towing light indication?
- Steering disengaged through external steering disengage switch.
- parking brakes not applied.
- Main brakes not applied.
How does the alternate gear extension work?
releases residual hydraulic pressure from the landing gear and opens all the unlocks.
What does the DN LOCK REL button do?
Mechanically bypasses the system protection logic.
What condition requires the DN LOCK REL button should be pushed?
landing gear control lever failure.
What is the purpose of Locked Wheel Protection and how does it function?
Allows wheel speed equalization during high speed turns. It does this by commanding zero brake pressure to the slower wheel.
When is the locked wheel protection active?
on the ground at wheel speeds above 30 knots when wheel speeds are 33% different.
At what speed is antiskid deactivated?
below 10 knots
When is brake touchdown protection deactivated?
Three seconds after WOW or wheel speed above 50 knots.
How many brake applications can the parking brake accumulators provide?
6
What is the purpose of the fusible plugs in the tires?
Fusible plug melts relieving excess pressure caused by overheated tire.
How is auto braking deactivated?
- selector switch OFF
- Brake pedal application
- Either thrust reverser advanced beyond idle during auto brake applications.
What is the fastest speed which max nose wheel deflection is available?
10 knots (76 digress of travel)
At what speed is auto brake armed on takeoff with RTO selected?
60 knots
