28-Volt DC, split field, series-wound, motor drives a worm gear assembly extending or retracting push-pull rods to mechanically position the gear to match the selector switch in the cockpit
What is installed to ensure that the gear motor will stop after the desired amount of travel?
Limit switches
Where is the safety switch located?
Left main gear strut
What’s the purpose of the safety switch?
Prevent gear up while on the ground
How does the safety switch work?
When the strut is compressed, the circuit is open and the gear motor cannot be energized
