Electrical System Flashcards
Describe the electrical system
28-Volts DC, 15.5 amp-hour, 24 volt lead acid battery OR optional two 25 amp-hour, 12 volt lead acid batteries - and two 28 volt, 100amp alternators
How often should you check the battery water in a lead acid battery?
Every 25 flight hours or 30 days, whichever is first
Where is the access port to the lead acid battery?
Nose baggage compartment, under the floor
Why is the battery box vented?
Dispose of hydrogen gas fumes discharged during the normal operation
How many alternators are there?
Two
What do alternators do?
Charge the battery and provide power to all DC load buses
What are the alternators connected to the battery by?
Bus tie - single parallel wire connecting both regulators
How is the electrical load kept at a consistent voltage?
Two voltage regulators
How many voltage regulators are always operable?
1
How is battery power routed to the battery bus?
Battery relay
When turning the starter to on, how does it provide power to engage the starter?
It closes the starter relay
What is the max time of having the starter engaged?
30 seconds
When using external power, what must the power be capable of providing?
24 volts and 300 amps
Do the overhead lights operate with the battery master switch off?
Yes
At what voltage does the over voltage relay open the affected alternator field?
32 volts, then affected alternator voltage will drop to 0
