Landing Gear Flashcards
How many tires on the 747-400 and what is the numerical order? INTRO pg 7
18 in counterclockwise order (Z-formation) numbered 1-16 + L & R
Selecting Value 3 on the Auto Brake Selector does what? AOM II 14-14
Maintains a fixed deceleration rate, so it will ease off the brakes when other deceleration factors , such as speed brakes and thrust reversers kick in.
Source; the IRS (to the right of the Gear Lever).
What dos the EICAS message Gear Tilt mean? AOM II 14-19
Main Gear Trucks not in Full Tilt position after takeoff
How do we alternatively extend the gear? Where are the switched located? AOM II 14-12
Two alternate Nose/Body and Wing Gear Switches pushed ON.
Lower landing Gear Panel (to the right of the gear lever.
You have a wheel well fire. What speed should you be at before extending the gear? AOM II 14-14
270 it’s or 0.82 Mach
On takeoff roll, when does RTO arm? What kind of braking is provided? QRH 8-8
85 knots
Max braking
What does a white hashed box displayed on the (expanded) gear position indicator indicate? AOM II 14-11
Gear is in transit.
How long does the gear up indication remain on the EICAS? AOM II 14-11
10 seconds
What speed does the body gear steering disarm? AOM II 14-12
> 20 knots on takeoff roll
Rearms >15 knots on landing roll or reject.
What does the brake torque limiting system do?
AOM II 14-12
Prevents excessive torque to prevent landing gear damage. Functions just like anti-skid (and even uses the anti-skid system to release brakes); but it is for excessive torque instead of a skidding tire. When excessive torque is detected by sensors, the anti-skid system will receive a signal to release break.
