Extra traffic
- Improving public transport
- Public campaigns like ‘Give the driver a break’ encourage use of new, more frequent bus services
- Leaflets with bus routes offer discounts on cafés and lake cruises to bus or train ticket holders
Erosion of footpaths
- National Park Authority frequently change line of paths and walking trails to allow time for vegetation to recover
- At Tarn Hows, several routes have been covered with soil and reseeded so vegetation can grow to bing soil; main route gravelled
Wildlife and Farmland
- Signs to remind visitors to take litter home/ close gates / dog leads
- Bins at popular sites like Lake Windermere / Scafell Pike

- More frequent trains from cities like Manchester and London
- Increase park and ride routes
- Farms encouraged to have more extreme attractions like clay pigeon shooting, archery and quad biking
- Timeshare developments (house share) so people all year round

- Lake Windermere is largest lake in England (pleasure boat ‘steamer’ cruises / speed boats / hire rowing boats)
- Large mountains and hills like Scafell Pike (hiking, rock climbing and pony trekking)
- Beatrix Potter and Wordsworth museums (cultural attractions) and picturesque village like Keswick (shop, eat ice-cream and B&Bs)
