How does cervix effaces and dilates in primips vs. multips?
In primips cervix first effaces and then dilates; in multips cervix effaces and dilates at the same time.

0.5 cm/h
expect 6-12 hours from 4 to 10 cm
How frequent are contractions during 2nd stage?
Every 5 min (become less frequent compared to 1st stage - every 2-3 min)
How much does the the uterus contract during 3rd stage?
It contracts to about half size - fundus at level of umbilicus.
What are the two methods of placenta separation?
Schultze method - formation of retro-placental clot that promotes further separation by forcing placenta off the uterine wall.
Duncan method - only one side of placenta separates, clot doesn’t form, blood comes out.
