Lab Tests for Diabetes

Question 1

Diagnostic criteria for diabetes includes two findings, on separate days, of at least one of the following:

-Manifestation of diabetes plus Casual blood glucose concentration greater than 200mg/dL
-Fasting blood glucose greater than 126mg/dL
-two hour glucose greater than 200mg/dL with oral glucose tolerance test
-glycosylated hemoglobin (A1C) greater than 6.5%

Laboratory tests for used diagnosing diabetes

Answer 2

-Fasting blood glucose
-Oral glucose tolerance test
-Glycosylated Hemoglobin (HbA1C)
-urine ketones

Question 3

A1C percentage that is indicative of pre-diabetes

Answer 3

5.4% - 6.7%
