Elongation - DNA Pol
Gel Electrophoresis Direction/Size
Use PCR DNA products. Smaller strands go further towards + electrode, longer strands travel shorter. Proteins can also be tested, but not all have negative charge so it separates based on size and charge
Southern Blot
DNA probe for DNA sample
Northern Blot
DNA probe for RNA (mRNA) sample
Western Blot
Antibody probe for protein sample
Southwestern Blot
Oligonucleotide probe for DNA binding proteins (like TFs)
Direct vs. Indirect ELISA
Direct: Use test Ab to see if a specific Ag is present in serum
Indirect: Uses either test Ag or Ab to see if a specific Ab or Ag, respectively, is present
