Lab Quiz #2 Flashcards
Pulmonary Circulation
formed by blood vessels that carry blood to and from the lungs; pulmonary arteries carry oxygen-poor and carbon-dioxide-rich blood, while pulmonary veins carry oxygen-rich blood
Systemic Circulation
provides the functional blood supply to all body tissue; delivers oxygen, nutrients, and other needed substances, while carrying away carbon dioxide and metabolic wastes
Oxygenated Blood
oxygen-rich, bright-red blood, travels through veins away from the heart and towards organs in systematic circulation; travels through pulmonary veins to exit pulmonary circulation
Deoxygenated Blood
oxygen-poor, dark-red blood; travels through veins away from organs and towards the heart in the systemic circuit, travels through pulmonary artery to enter pulmonary circulation
Venous Blood
blood moving towards the heart
Arterial Blood
blood moving away from the heart
Thoracic Duct
not a vein, it’s a duct; drains lymph from the rest of the body
