Deltoid
Origins: spine of scapula, acromion, clavicle
Insertion: deltoid tuberosity of humerus
Action: Abducts shoulder
External Intercostals
Origins: inferior border of rib above
Insertion: superior border of rib below
Action: Elevate rib cage
Internal Intercostals
Origins: superior border of rib below
Insertion: inferior border of rib above
Action: Compress rib cage
Rectus Abdominis
Origins: pubic crest and symphysis
Insertion: xiphoid process, cartilage of ribs 5-7
Action: Rotates trunk
External Oblique
Origins: anterior surface of lower 8 ribs
Insertion: linea alba, pubic crest, iliac crest
Action: Rotates trunk, laterally flexes

Origins: iliac crest; lumbar vertebrae

Action: Extend shoulder

Origins: infraspinous fossa of scapula
Insertion: greater tubercle of humerus
Action: Laterally rotates the shoulder
Supraspinatus
Origins: supraspinous fossa of scapula

Action: Abducts shoulder
