Q

Trunk flexion

A

The patient will be supine (face up). Instruct the patient to cross their hands over their chest like this… , then lift the patients legs and tell them to relax their legs . Then instruct the patient to lift up and crunch up to their knees. You are testing to see if the scapulas are off the table and that their abdominal muscles are contracting properly.

Q

Trunk rotation

A

The patient will be supine. Instruct the patient to cross hands across chest like so, then lift the patients legs up and tell them to relax their legs and then instruct the patient to bring the left elbow to the right knee (or opposite knee)

17
Q

Trunk rotation muscles involved

A

Internal and external obliques

18
Q

Trunk rotation nerve supply

A

Intercostal nerves

19
Q

Capital extension

A

The patient will be prone. Instruct the patient to lay face down on the table with their hands out resting on the table on either sides of their body. Instruct the patient to child their chin up in a nodding motion and look out onto the floor.

20
Q

Capital extension muscles involved

A

Splenius capitis, semispinalis capitis, longissimus capitis, obliquus capitis major/minor, upper trap

21
Q

Capital extension nerve innovation

A

Sub occipital nerve and greater occipital nerve

22
Q

Capital flexion

A

The patient is in a supine position. Instruct the patient to lay face up on the table with their hands on the side of their body relaxing . Instruct the patient to tuck their chin in

23
Q

Muscles involved in capital flexion

A

Rectus capitis anterior, Rectus capitis lateralis, and longus capitis

24
Q

Rectus capitis anterior nerve

A

25
Q

Rectus capitis lateralis innervation

A

Anterior rami of c1 and c2 spinal nerves

26
Q

Cervical extension

A

The patient is prone. Instruct the patient to lay face down on the table with hands at sides. Instruct the patient to lift head up and look at the wall,

27
Q

Cervical extension muscles

A

Splenius cervicis, illiocostalis cervicis , semispinalis cervicis, longissimus cervicis

28
Q

Cervical extension nerves

A

Cervical spine nerves

29
Q

Cervical flexion

A

The patient will be in supine position. Instruct the patient to look up at the wall ahead of them. The patient should also lie on the table face up with hands at their sides.

34
Q

Lateral bending

A

The patient willl be sitting in a neutral position . Instruct the patient to touch their left ear to the shoulder like so then place your hand on the side of head the patient willl be bringing their ear to

35
Q

Lateral bending muscles

A

Scalene, sternocleidomastoid

36
Q

Cervical rotation

A

The patient is sitting in a neutral position, ask the patient to turn their head towards their left shoulder , apply resistance on the side the patient is turning to.

37
Q

Muscles in cervical rotation

A

Seeing if the sternocleidomastoid contracts and scalene
