Lab Part of Test Flashcards
Sternocleidomastoid
O - sternum and clavicle
I - mastoid process
A - head and neck flexion (looking down), lateral neck flexion (ear to shoulder), rotation of head to opposite side
Scalene
O - transverse processes of cervical vertebrae
I - 1st and 2nd ribs
A - neck flexion (looking down) and lateral neck flexion to the same side (ear to shoulder)
Splenius capitis
O - upper spine
I - occipital bone, back of the skull
A - head and neck extension (looking forward), lateral flexion and rotation of head to same side
Splenius cervicis
O - Spinous processes T3-6
I - base of neck
A - neck extension (looking forward) and lateral flexion to same side
Rectus abdominis
O - pubic crest
I - attaches to the 5th-7th ribs
A - trunk flexion, helps with respiration
Deltoid
O - Anterior is the clavicle, middle is the acromion process, and posterior is the spine of scapula
I - deltoid tuberosity
A - shoulder abduction (palm down, raising arm up)
Upper trapezius
O - occipital protuberance and upper spine
I - lateral third of clavicle, acromion process
A - scapular elevation (shrugging), upward rotation (raising arms above head), and retraction (squeezing shoulder blades together)
Middle trapezius
O - spinous processes C7-T3
I - spine of scapula
A - scapular retraction (squeezing shoulder blades together), minimal upward rotation
Lower trapezius
O - spinous process T4-T12
I - base of spine of scapula
A - scapular depression (lowering shoulders), upward rotation (raising arms above head), and retraction (pulling shoulder blades together)
Rhomboid
O - spinous process C7-T5
I - vertebral border of scapula
A - scapular retraction, elevation, and downward rotation
Supraspinatus
O - supraspinous fossa of the scapula
I - greater tubercle of humerus
A - shoulder abduction and stabilizes shoulder
Pectoralis major clavicular portion
O - medial third of clavicle
I - lateral side of humerus
A - shoulder flexion (palm down, raising arm in front of you), and horizontal adduction (thumb up, arm out and swinging medially)
Pectoralis major sternal portion
O - sternum, costal cartilage of first 6 ribs
I - lateral side of humerus
A - medial rotation (thumb up, elbow bent, bringing arm in), adduction (arms extended out to sides and bring down to side), and horizonal adduction (thumb up, arm out and swinging medially)
Latissimus Dorsi
O - spinous processes of T7-L5
I - back of humerus
A - shoulder extension (arms at side, going further back), adduction (bringing arms down to side), and medial rotation (elbow bent, hand coming medially)
