Lab one Flashcards
Law of Segregation (Mendel’s First Law)
Inherited characters are determined by particular factors which occur in pairs and when gamete form these genes segregate so that only one of the homologous(homólogo) pair is contained in that particular gamete.
Law of independent action (Mendel’s Second Law)
States that genes on non-homologous or different chromosomes will be distributed randomly into gametes.
Dominant
Alleles that are designated by a capital letter and express themselves.
Recessive
Alleles that are designated with a lowercase letter and are masked by dominant ones.
Alleles
A gene alternate state. Contributed by parents
Phenotype
Physical appearance of traits.
Genotype
Includes all alleles present in cells whether dominant or recessive.
Heterozigotico
Alleles distintos
Homozigotico
