Q
Russian or Biphasic for Edema
A
15 min
- (20 - 50 Hz)
- 200 Microsec
- 1 channel
- 10/10 cycle
- RAMP: [ Large: 1.5 - 2 ] or [ Small: 0.5]
- Moderate Motor Stim
2
Q
Benefits of Muscle Pump Contraction Stim for EDEMA
A
- Reduce inflam/swell by promoting contractions that helps stim circulation and guides blood flow back to the heart
3
Q
Russian for Muscle Strengthening
A
- 30+ min
- (35 - 50 Hz)
- 10 Milliseconds
- 1 channel or 2 channels
- 10/30 (rehab) then -> 10/50 for healthy muscle [Duty Cycle]
- Strong motor stim (“Tell me when you feel it”)
Start treatment
4
Q
Russian or Biphasic for Chronic Pain
A
- 15 min
- ( 1 - 10 Hz) to release ENDORPHINS
- 1 channel
- Continuous (Cycle)
- Strong sensory stim (Raise intensity right before “twitch”)
5
Q
Russian or Biphasic spasm
- 15 min
- ( 80 - 150 Hz )
- 1 channel
- Continuous (cycle)
- Mild motor stim (Tell me when you feel it -> Raise to see “Twitch” -> START)
A
- 15 min
- ( 80 - 150 Hz )
- 1 channel

Q
Interferential Current (IFC) for Acute Pain
A
- 15 min
- ( 80 - 150 Hz ) [HIGH FREQUENCY]
- 2 channels
- Target (Focal pain) or Sweep (Diffuse pain)
- Mild sensory stim
- Pad Placement (Draw an “X” & label channel 1 & 2)
7
Q
IFC for Chronic Pain
A
- 15 min
- ( 1 - 10 Hz ) [LOW FREQUENCY]
- 2 channels
- Target (Focal pain) or Sweep (Diffuse pain)
- Strong sensory stim (Before contraction)

Q
Russian or Biphasic for Acute Pain
A
** Frequency will NOT light up… use RATE **
- 15 min
- ( 80 - 150 Hz) to release ENKEPHALINS
- 1 Channel
- Continuous (For time)
- Mild sensory stim ( Tell me when you feel it -> Hit START)
- Pad placement
10
Q
Method of Russian for Muscle Strengthening if doing RECIPROCAL
A
Ex: 1 pad on Bicep & other on Tricep
- Bring up until contract (Remember #)
- Lower to “1” & hit START
** Channel 2 turns on **
- Bring up until PT feels it & contracts
- Hit START
** Switches back to channel 1 **
- Raise to # you remembered
- Start treatment

Q
Contraindications to Electrical Stim
A
- Tumor
- Infection
- Implanted electric devices
