1
Q
3 Types of Natriuretic Peptides
A
Atrial, B-type and C-type
2
Q
ANP Description
A
28-AA peptide found in teh atrium of the heart
3
Q
BNP Description
A
32-AA peptide found mainly in the ventricles of the heart
4
Q
CNP Description
A
53- and 22-aa peptides found in the endothelium
5
Q
Cause of BNP Release and Correlation
A
Released in response to stretch/ increased volume in the ventricle.
BNP Correlates with LVEDP, NYHA Class and Objective HF diagnosis in pt’s 55 or older
6
Q
BNP Normal Levels
A
BNP < 100 pg/ml highly specific (90%) for NON-HF cause
Higher levels in renal failure, women & elderly
7
Q
Cardiac Enzymes (Troponins)
A
Troponin (I and T)
Felt to be specific to the heart
Released into bloodstream with myocyte necrosis
