Lab 6 Pulse & Blood Pressure Flashcards
pulse & bp
What is used to take blood pressure
sphygmomanometer
Pulse Pressure
systolic - diastolic pressure (mmHg)
MAP (mean arterial pressure)
diastolic pressure + (pulse pressure/3) (mmHg)
PR Interval
0.12-0.20 seconds
QT interval
0.20-0.40 seconds
QRS interval
<0.10 seconds
Lubb (S1)
first heart sound, AV valves closing (bicuspid and tricuspid)
Dubb (S2)
second heart sound, semilunar valves closing (aortic and pulmonary)
Heart Calculation
beats measured (beats) * 60 secs / total time measured (sec) = heart rate (bpm)
T-wave
represents repolarization of the ventricles
Pulse =
beats/30 sec x 2
What happens to BP & pulse when you immediately stand up?
BP can drop slightly, pulse may increase slightly
Fitness Index
duration of exercise (sec) x 100 / 2 (sum of pulses)
As pulse decreases
fitness index goes up
As pulse goes up
fitness index goes down
