The difference is it has a waxy mycolic acid layer

What are the steps of acid fast
A
- Use aseptic tech, prepare a slide of mycobacterium smagmeatis mixed with a loop full of s. Aureus
- Air dry then heat fix
- During air dying we prepare the hot water bath
- After the heat fix we place the steam
- Floors the slide with carbon cushion for 5 min. We also dont allow the stain to evaporate
- Remove the slide from the beaker and place it on the staining tray
7 cool and gently wash the slide with water
8 drip acid alcohol on the slide until no more color drain from the smear
9 wash gently with water
10 counter stain with methylene blue for 2 min
11 gently was with water and dry
