What is a motor unit?
A motor unit is a motor neruon and all the muscle fibers it innervates
What is tetany? What is it caused by?
Tetany is the sustained fusion of many individual muscle twitches. This is caused by a continous train of action potentials being sent to the motor unit
What is motor unit recruitment?
The sequential activation of motor units to preform a task
What is fatigue? What is it caused by?
The decrease in the muscle’s ability to generate force due to reversable energy depletion
What does EMG stand for? What does it measure?
EMG: electromyogram. It records changes in skin voltage due to muscle contractions
Whats the difference between a scatter plot and a line graph
line graph: shows change over time
scatter plot: shows value of points
What is a compound graph?
A graph that shows multiple sets of data that are interrelated
