Lab 2 Flashcards
Describe the process for lab 2
20 Granulocytes and agranulocytes were counted. A chi square test was performed with the observed numbers against the expected numbers.
What are the important units of metric conversion?
Kilo, hecto, deca, deci, centi, milli, micro, nano
How many micrometers are in a millimeter?
1,000
How many nanometers are in a meter?
1,000,000
What is a null hypothesis?
In a statistical comparison of two populations, a statement that there is no practical difference between the two populations.
What is a granulocyte?
A white blood cell with small particles in the cytoplasm.
What is an agranulocyte? What are the 2 types?
A white blood cell without granules in its cytoplasm. There are monocytes and lymphocytes.
What are monocytes and lymphocytes.
The 2 types of agranulacyte.
What is the formula for a chi square test?
X^2 = the sum of ((observed value - expected value)^2)/expected value
What is a chi square test?
A test to determine the statistical likelihood that there is a significant difference between multiple populations.
