Colours as adjectives come after the noun. They agree with the noun in gender and size.

Colours that are noun themselves, such as ‘orange’ and ‘marron’, are invariable (they do not change in gender and size). ‘Rose’ is the exception to this rule.

Singular:
masc + consonant = beau i.e un beau costume
masc + vowel sound = bel i.e un bel homme
feminine = belle i.e une belle robe

Plural:
masculine = beaux i.e les beaux manteaux
feminine = belles i.e les belles chaussures

Singular:
masc + consonant = nouveau i.e un nouveau vélo
