LA - Classical Conditioning Flashcards
Define unconditioned response
The original reflexive reaction.
Define the neutral stimulus
A stimulus that causes no reaction.
Define the conditioned stimulus
The neutral stimulus now causes a reflexive reaction as it is paired with the UCS.
Define the conditioned response.
The reflexive reaction to the CS
Define extinction
If the CS is not paired with the UCS occasionally after conditioning then the CR will die out.
Define spontaneous recovery.
This occurs after extinction. The CR returned when there is no more pairing of the NS and the UCS. It soon becomes extinct again.
Define stimulus generalisation.
A classical conditioning response is seen other stimuli that are similar to the CS. The more similar to the original CS the stronger the response.
Define the unconditioned stimulus
The original stimulus that causes a reflexive reaction.
