Horizontal Jumping Pattern
Initial–less deep squat, feet don’t go together
mature–deep squat, reciprocal arms, longer distance, feet hit at the same time
Hopping Development
Initial = begins at age 4 to 5. very little height or distance. Decreased balance.
Mature = balance, farther distance and height
Signs of immature movement patterns
- inconsistency
- inability to stop when appropriate
- extraneous movements
- Mirroring or inability to transpose R/L visual cues
- Asymmetry
- Loss of dynamic balance
- Inability to maintain pattern
- Doesn’t use appropriate force
- Lack of motor planning

Purpose: participation patterns for children and youth in home, school, environments
Age: 5-17
Areas tested: 25 activities and their relative ease or difficulty for child
Test of Gross Motor Development (TGMD-3)
Purpose: developmental assesment of motor skills
Age: 3 years to 10 years
Areas tested: Locomotion, ball skills
