Henry chose a bishop Gregory didn’t like, Henry tried to overthrow the pope, Gregory excommunicated Henry, Henry begged for forgiveness, Pope accepted the apology, final ruling is that Pope gets to choose bishops and abbots and bishops and abbots listen to Emperor.
