Q

What is the best and worst fetal presentation

A

We prefer cephalic, complete flexion, OA. The smallest part of the head would be entering first and the rest would fall through.

Shoulder presentation and single footling breech are not compatible with vag birth. We don’t like the other breech’s either

Q

Describe fetal station

A

range from -3 to +3. The cm of where the baby is in relation to the base of the ischial spine. once the baby is at 0, it is at the spine and it is engaged. Mom starts pushing at +2

Q

What are the factors of the passenger in relation to delivery

A
  1. fetal presentation: What part comes out first. Cephalic, breech, or shoulder
  2. Head measurement: biparietal (largest transverse) and suboccipitobregmatic (smaller diagonal)
  3. Fetal attitude: relation of fetal’s body part to one another
  4. Fetal position: station (vertex in relation to the maternal ischial spine) and engagement
