L11 - Inference Analysis: Non-parametric Tests Flashcards
What are the Non-Parametric Test (all but Under Roast Potatoes)
- Chi-squared
- Sign
- Mann Whitney U
- Wilcoxon
- Spearman’s Rho
For Spearman’s Rho, what does ‘N’ and ‘d’ stand for?
N- No. of Participants
d - Difference between ranks
For Mann Whitney, what do ‘Na’, ‘Nb’ and ‘T’ stand for?
Na - No. of participants in the smaller sample
Nb - No. of participants in the larger sample
T - Sum of ranks in the smaller sample
For Chi-Squared, what does observed value mean?
The numerical value calculated by the statistical tests.
Known as calculated value and is compared to the critical value to check significance
What are degrees of freedom?
The number of values that are free to vary
For Wilcoxon, what should you do?
- Work out the sum of positive ranks
- Work out sum of negative ranks
For Wilcoxon, what do ‘T’ and ‘N’ stand for
T - The smaller value
N - No. of participants who scored differently in both conditions
What is a good template when considering significance?
Yes it is significant, as x is greater than/less than y at p
