Describe some intrinsic causes of disease
CHANGES TO A PERSONS GENOME
- could be nuclear/mitochondrial diseases or inherited mutations
- de novo mutations
- epigenetic modifications
What 2 levels can the effects of genetic variations, manifest at and what is the difference?
Cell - autonomously = when a cell is missing something and therefore lacks function or structure
Cell - non autonomously = when a cell is missing something which affects the function of another cell
Describe some Extrinsic causes of disease?
- Injury
- Nutrition and diet
- infection
- lifestyle
- chemical poisoning
- exposure to radiation
