L.1 Flashcards
What is genome :
has all the hereditary information encoded in the DNA
What is chromosome
Threadlike structure of DNA and Protein located in the nucleus each chromosome has genes
What is genes
Has the genetic information and is unit of heredity and responsible of trait and characteristics
What is allele
Alternative forms of genes
What is the difference between homo and heterozygous
Homozygous: identical allele
Heterozygous: different allele
What is phenotype
Give the physical and biochemical characteristics and determine by genetic make up and environmental influences
What is the difference between dominant and recessive
Dominant one abnormal allele is enough need heterozygous to affect while recessive must have two abnormal allele and need homozygous
Which one is dominant and recessive ( Huntington disease and cystic fibrosis)
HD I’d dominant
CF is recessive
Incomplete dominant?
If u have two dominant will affect you more than having one dominant allele
