What activates for Vascular shunt mechanism?
Pre capillary sphincters
Arterioles
What aids venous return?
Muscle pump- squeeze veins when contracting
Thoracic cavity- pressure difference -> pressure decrease within Thoracic cavity vs increase within abdominal as diaphragm contracts
Short term effects of exercise, LO3?
Increased HR, SV, Q -> inline with intensity
Depending on fitness level
Long term effects of exercise, LO3?
Decreased resting heart rate bc hearts more efficient
Increased SV due to stronger ventricle contractions
So an increase in MAX Q bc of sv increase
Warm up effects, LO3?
Increased heart rate and stroke volume
Increased venous return
Increased Q to meet demands
What’s the heart referred as?
Cardiac muscle or heart muscle
what type of blood does the right side of the heart transport?
oxygenated
what type of blood does the left side of the heart transport?
deoxygenated blood
what type of blood do viens often carry?
