KV Aircraft Airworthiness Flashcards
How does the FOM define mechanical it regularities?
A mechanical irregularity is any condition in which a system or component is not operating in a normal manner consistent with the original equipment manufacturer standards or specifications.
Also includes suspected or visible damage to any part of the aircraft.
How is a mechanical irregularity reported?
The irregularity is reported via FlightView.
A mechanical irregularity is discovered at the gate prior to block out. What actions must be taken?
- Report irregularity via FlightView.
2. Mx determines the actions to be taken to correct or defer the mechanical irregularity.
Enroute you receive an amber caution message. After running the QRH the message is extinguished and does not re-occur. What actions will the PIC take once the aircraft has arrived at the gate and the passenger door has opened?
- PIC will report the mechanical irregularity to maintenance via FlightView.
- Maintenance will determine corrective actions necessary.
After closing out, aircraft damage is found. How do you properly report this problem?
- PIC must deactivate the flight via FlightView and report the mechanical irregularity to maintenance.
- Maintenance determines the corrective actions.
- Once complete, PIC must close out the flight again.
As an FO, are you responsible for ensuring that mechanical irregularities have been reported?
Yes; Both the PIC and SIC accept the aircraft airworthiness by activating the flight.
Upon arriving to the aircraft an open circuit breaker is found. What action must be taken?
Report the mechanical irregularity to maintenance.
How do you verify an aircraft is back in service after it has been out of service?
- The top bar is blue with an “IS” indication showing that the aircraft is in service.
- Top bar is not red.
When is a preflight inspection required?
Before every flight.
When is a post flight inspection required?
After every flight
Where is the tire wear criteria found?
It’s found in the SOPM in the preflight section.
You arrive at your destination and maintenance is there to take the aircraft to the hangar. Is a post flight inspection required?
Yes
When can a post flight inspection be waived?
- Outbound crew is at the aircraft prior to the termination check.
- The aircraft has remained powered.
Where is the pre/post flight inspections recommended to start?
Front left of the fuselage
During a post flight inspection at an outstation, a potential bird strike is discovered. What do you do?
- Report the bird strike via FlightView.
2. PIC may complete bird strike inspection under direction of maintenance.
