3
Q

What is the difference between a state and a phase? Give an example

A

They are very similar but with some exceptions- water and oil are both in liquid state but do are immiscible so are classed as a different phase

Q

Features of the kp, what do its values suggest

A

If greater than 1 it means that the equilibrium is towards the right hand side so more products than reactants
If less than 1- equilibrium is towards the left and there are more reactants than products
If exactly 1 it means that equilibrium is in the middle so equal amounts of products and reactants
