Create urgency…
Inspire people to want to change, develop a sense of urgency by explaining what changes need to happen and why they need to happen NOW.
Form a powerful coalition…
Assemble a team who will lead the organisation thought the change. Involves acquiring people in the right places with the required skills from different parts or the company.
Create a vision…
Clarify how the change will better the organisation; what it will look like, what it will result in. In creating a vision people will understand what’s going on and what is being asked of them.
Communicate the vision…
Communicate the essential aspects of the vision. Get it across to all employees possibly via meetings, training or emails etc. by being honest and clear.
Remove obstacles…
Identify any problems with the process of implementing the change. Involves dispute resolution.
Create short-term wins…
Important to celebrate short term success along the way of the lengthy change process. These will motivate staff to work toward and assist in implementing the change it will also show the progress and success of the change.
Build on the change…
Analyse what went right or what needs improving, set goals in order to fix any problems or build on the momentum of the change for continuos success.
Anchor the change in Corp. culture…
Institutionalise new approaches and create a new culture that can assist the change to become the norm. Involves changing ideals and values.
