ER Tibiofemoral Somatic Dysfunction: ME

A
  • Have pt sit down on the table with their leg hanging off.
  • Grab tibial plateau with one hand, ankle with the other.
  • Put pt into an IR barrier
  • Have pt ER while you apply a counterforce
  • Do 3-5 seconds and then rest.
  • Engage new barrier until one cannot be met

  • Put them into a flexion RB with your hand on their ankle
  • Have them flex against a counterpressure.
  • Do 3-5 seconds and then rest.
  • Engage new barrier and continue until one cannot be met

  • put a pillow underneath their leg
  • put one hand under their calcaneus and other over their knee cap
  • Instruct them to flex
  • Do 3-5 seconds and then rest
  • Engage new barrier and continue until a new one cannot be met

Posterior Fibular Head: Muscle Energy

A
  • Have patient lay on their back
  • Flex hip and knee to 90
  • Hold fibular head between thumb and middle finger
  • evert, abduct and dorsiflex pts foot and externally rotate lower leg
  • Tell them to push their foot in

Do 3-5 seconds and then rest
- Engage new barrier and continue until a new one cannot be met

Anterior Fibular Head: Muscle Energy

A
  • Pt lays on back with legs down.
  • Push posterior on fibular head with one hand
  • Invert, adduct, and plantarflex pt’s foot, while also internally rotating lower leg.
    -Have pt move laterally against resistance for
    ME tx.

Do 3-5 seconds and then rest
- Engage new barrier and continue until a new one cannot be met
