Knee Flashcards
Musculoskeletal of knee
bone, connective tissue, muscle, nerves, vessels, bursa
What major bones make up the knee? Superior to inferior.
Femur, Patella, Tibia
Cortical Bone
makes up 80% of skeleton, outer surface that is dense, compact, strong
Cancellous Bone
trabecular, spongy tissue located at the end of long bones
Subchondral Bone
Dense bone beneath articular cartilage
Long Bones
Femur, tibia, fibula, humerus, radius, ulna
Diaphysis
shaft of long bones, consists of cortical bone shell surrounding medullary canal
Epiphysis
end of long bone, in adolescents where growth plate goes through ossification
Metaphysis
Between epiphysis and diaphysis where cancellous bone is housed in adults
Tendon
connects muscle to bone
Ligament
bone to bone
Connective Tissue to know
Bone, Fibrous Tissue (tendon and ligaments), cartilage
Tendon VS. Ligament
Horizontal, Lateral
What is the main building block for connective tissue?
Collagen
