Knee Flashcards
What are the standard knee projections?
AP R/L knee
lateral R/L knee
tangential R/L patella or sunrise R/L patella
How do you know if its a right or left knee?
image marker
What are you looking at with an AP knee view?
symmetry of joint space
What position is the knee in for a lateral view?
flexion
Which way should the patella face when its hung?
a. medially
b. laterally
c. facing you
d. facing away
laterally
Which condyle is larger?
a. medial femoral condyle
b. lateral femoral condyle
medial femoral condyle
Patella alta means
patella is riding high
Patella baja means
patella is riding low
At what angle is the xray beam shooting for a tangential or sunrise view?
superiorly and at an angle
from below the knee
What can you see with a tangential or sunrise view?
femur and the back side of the patella
This line is described as the deepest point in the trochlear groove and draw a line out to the medial condyle and out to the lateral condyle
sulcus angle
This line is described as drawing two reference angles that bisect the sulcus angle and the second is from the apex of the sulcus then extends to the most posterior aspect of the patella
congruence angle
What is a normal sulcus angle?
138 degrees +- 6 degrees
What is a normal congruence angle?
-6 degrees
If the congruence angle is on the lateral side of the reference line it is associated with
patellar dislocation
