Ankle/Foot Flashcards
What ankle or foot projection is not standard?
a. AP R/L ankle
b. Oblique or mortise
c. AP inversion and eversion stress
d. lateral R/L foot
AP inversion and eversion stress
What are you mainly looking at with an AP R/L ankle?
distal tib/fib and some of the talus
How is an oblique or mortise view different than AP or lateral?
the lower leg is internally rotated about 15-20 degrees
What is the mortise view good for looking at?
the joint space
Which way should the toes point in a lateral view of the ankle/foot?
laterally
What can you see more of with a lateral view of the ankle?
more of the foot
What are you looking for with an AP inversion/eversion stress image?
tilting of the talus
What is tilting of the talus?
gapping in lateral side of inversion and gapping on medial side with eversion stress
How should an AP foot view image be hung?
with the toes facing upward
What joints can you see with an AP foot view?
transverse tarsal joint forward
A lateral view of the foot will show
the medial arch of the foot
What does the talometatarsal angle tell you?
helps judge the arch of the foot
With an oblique foot view the patient will
raise lateral aspect of foot
